Bridging Science, Tradition, and Whole-Person Care
Stephanie Savasta, M.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. is a licensed acupuncturist and Diplomate of Acupuncture through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). With more than a decade of experience in private practice and integrative healthcare settings, she brings together a strong foundation in science with extensive training in East Asian medicine.
Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Hampshire and began her career in research at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Her interest in the connection between science, medicine, and the body’s capacity for healing ultimately led her to the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA), where she earned her Master of Acupuncture.
Trained in both Chinese and Japanese styles of acupuncture, Stephanie takes an individualized approach to care, recognizing that no two patients—and no two paths to healing—are exactly alike. Her training extends beyond acupuncture to include a wide range of complementary techniques, including cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, electroacupuncture, auriculotherapy, Tui Na, Sotai, laser acupuncture, pediatric acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, and cosmetic facial rejuvenation.
Her curiosity about healing has taken her well beyond the classroom and treatment room. Stephanie has trained with respected practitioners, including Tom Tam, and has traveled internationally to deepen her understanding of traditional healing practices. Through the Global Acupuncture Project, she traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico, to help train local healthcare workers in acupuncture and East Asian medicine. She has also studied traditional herbal and healing practices in Costa Rica and Guatemala and has been involved with Acupuncturists Without Borders, an organization dedicated to supporting communities affected by disaster and crisis.
Stephanie’s approach to healing extends beyond the practice of acupuncture itself and reflects years of study and experience across a wide range of traditional, energetic, and spiritual healing practices. Her training includes Shamanic Reiki, Medical Qigong, Tong Ren Therapy, ceremony and ritual-based healing, aromatherapy, nutritional counseling, and the therapeutic use of stones and crystals through the Upper Clarity School of Stone Medicine. Together, these diverse traditions have deepened her understanding of healing and continue to inform her whole-person approach to care.
Stephanie has also helped bridge the worlds of Eastern and Western medicine through her work at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, a Boston Medical Center–affiliated organization and one of the first community health settings in the area to integrate acupuncture into conventional medical care. There, she worked alongside physicians and physical therapists, providing acupuncture as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Her connection to evidence-based medicine has also extended into medical research and publishing. Combining her scientific background with her expertise in acupuncture, Stephanie has reviewed acupuncture-related research for Explore: The Journal of Science & Healing and DynaMed, an evidence-based clinical reference used by physicians and other healthcare professionals worldwide.
At the heart of her practice is a belief that meaningful care begins by looking at the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. Stephanie combines clinical experience, traditional wisdom, scientific curiosity, and genuine compassion to create thoughtful, individualized treatments that reflect each patient’s unique needs.
After practicing in several communities across the country, Stephanie is excited to return to the North Shore and welcome both new and returning patients to her practice in Marblehead.
In Their Own Words
"Over the last 2 years, I have worked with Stephanie on a number of things. Stephanie's a talented healer who is always kind, compassionate, and professional! She has helped me have a beautiful pregnancy, prevent migraines, combat common cold and allergies, manage SIBO/digestive symptoms, and keep my body nourished and balanced! She has given my new son Tong Ren treatments to help with congestion, immune boosts, teething pains, and general upset with near-immediate effects. We love and look forward to our weekly sessions with Stephanie and highly recommend her!"
— Andrea L.“Stephanie is amazing. As a person who hates needles, I was nervous about trying acupuncture, but Stephanie was very patient and understanding and made me feel very comfortable. She does a great job listening to what you tell her is going on and your goals for treatment, as well has listening to what your body needs. Each treatment is custom tailored to your goals and needs. She is easy to talk to and honestly cares about her patients/clients.”
— Emily P.— Emily P.“I had never had acupuncture before seeing Stephanie. When I spoke to her on the phone, she was so kind and informative and explained how acupuncture works and asked me about myself and what I wanted to address by seeing her. When I went in for my first appointment, she explained everything to me as she worked on me, and it was the most relaxing, pain-free experience. I left feeling so relaxed and hoping that this treatment would work for me. I have been seeing Stephanie weekly or every other week since the fall, and I can't imagine ever stopping. Stephanie is the kindest, gentlest person you will ever meet. She cares about her patients’ well-being and will do anything she can to make sure their needs are met. Acupuncture with Stephanie has been life-changing for me!”
